The Other Black Girl Coming to Hulu with Garcelle Beauvais
An adaptation of The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris is now in the works at Hulu including a cast of Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young, and now Garcelle Beauvais has just joined the cast. The Other Black Girl is the bestselling novel about an editorial assistant named Nella who is tired of being the only Black girl at the company she works for, until Hazel is hired, and things start to take a wild turn and sinister things begin to happen.
Tell Me (More) Lies at Hulu
The series Tell Me Lies on Hulu based on the novel by Carola Lovering was recently renewed for a season two. The first season (and novel) follow an addictive and toxic relationship between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco that will affect the rest of their lives. Season One debuted in the beginning of September with the finale wrapping up in the end of October, but Hulu is not going to miss out on this show that has everyone talking. Season 2 is expected to hit Hulu sometime in 2023.
Picture Perfect Federation and Zurich Avenue Acquire The Perfect Marriage
Bestselling psychological thriller The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose has been acquired to turned into a film being produced by Patrick Wachsberger and Ashley Stern. The film is set to be directed by Sigal Avin of Losing Alice with a screenplay penned by William Broyles of Cast Away and Unfaithful. The novel is about Sarah Morgan, a successful defense attorney, whose life takes an unexpected turn when her husband is accused of murdering his mistress and she decides to take the case.
Dark Matter to Include Jennifer Connelly
Apple TV+ is not only developing the sci-fi novel Dark Matter into a nine-episode series starring Joel Egerton, but now Jennifer Connelly is set to co-star as well. Dark Matter is about a physicist and professor who is sent to a parallel universe in an alternate version of his life based on a decision he made years ago. As the man (played by Egerton) tries to return to his reality, he must face obstacles to return to his family. Connelly is set to play Daniela, the man’s wife.
Peacock set to Adapt Hillier’s Little Secrets
Tish Cyrus’ HopeTown Entertainment, Melissa Scrivner Love, and Universal Television are bringing Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier to your living room via Peacock in 2023! The thriller written by Hillier and published in 2020 is about a woman whose life and marriage crumble when her child goes missing. While she’s already lost so much, she snaps out of her haze when she decides to get revenge on her husband’s mistress.
Aldis Hodge to Star as Alex Cross for Amazon
Amazon Studios will be producing a new Alex Cross series with Aldis Hodge set to star. Based on the bestselling series by James Patterson, Alex Cross is a detective and forensic psychologist whose specialty is getting into the minds of killers in order to catch them. The series is set to start filming in January 2023. Currently titled “Cross”, the series is also set to star Isaiah Mustafa and Ryan Eggold.
The Butcher & The Wren Coming to Series
Co-host of the popular podcast Morbid, Alaina Urquhart is now adding author to her resume with the creepy novel The Butcher & The Wren. The story is about a medical examiner who is hunting a cunning serial killer set in the Louisiana bayou. Now, the book is set to be adapted into a series from Chernobyl producer Sister along with Dexterexecutive producer Jennifer Yale as the showrunner. Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella will be directing.
Ryan O’Connell to Star, Direct, and Write Just by Looking at Him Adaptation
Published over the summer of 2022, Ryan O’Connell’s Just by Looking at Him is the story following a gay television writer with cerebral palsy who tries to navigate a world that he doesn’t feel he fits into, all while looking for love. Not only will O’Connell be starring as the lead in the movie, but he will also be directing and writing the script. Jim Parsons is also set to star as Ethan, the boss of O’Connell’s character Elliot. Filming is set to begin Spring 2023.
People We Meet on Vacation Coming to Theaters
Emily Henry’s NYT bestselling novel People We Meet on Vacation is coming to theaters! The film is set to be directed by Brett Haley with a screenplay written by Yulin Kuang. The rom-com follows two best friends, Alex and Poppy, who couldn’t be more opposite in personalities, yet still take an annual vacation together ever year.
