Netflix is stepping in to fill the shoes of our dearly departed Yellowstone with the latest Western to obsess over. Led by Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, this new series is bringing steamy romance, small-town secrets and Stetsons to your favorite streaming service. The highly-anticipated show, Ransom Canyon, premieres on Netflix April 17th with a 10-episode first season.

Set in Texas, the story follows the lives of adults and teenagers facing the encroachment of modern day. While some try to hold on to the land that is their legacy, others are trying to sell it off to the highest bidder, but that’s just the start of their problems. From tragic pasts to unhealed heartbreak, broken homes and long-running bad blood, this town can’t escape the intricate web that binds them all together.

Centered around Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), who has suffered a heartbreaking loss, we watch as he attempts to reintegrate himself with the people around him. Including, his long-term friend Quinn O’Grady (Kelly) who’s gently trying to ease him back into life. As their undeniable chemistry yo-yo’s between intimate friends and frustrated romantic tension, they’ll have to navigate their past and present if they’re going to have any hope for a future.

Based on the beloved book series of the same name by Jodi Thomas, Ransom Canyon tows a fine line between Western romance and ranch-set drama. With eight novels in the series, fans of the book are finally getting the chance to see the characters they fell in love with ten years ago come to life. And for those just getting introduced to Staten and Quinn through the show, there is a lot more material to dive into after bingeing season one!
