Alfred A. Knopf will publish a memoir by WNBA star Brittney Griner. The memoir is said to contain details about her Russian imprisonment and making international headlines. The untitled memoir is expected to be released in spring 2024.
Mindy and Oprah Adapting Jesse Q. Sutanto Novel
Book lovers rejoice as two fiction-loving queens combine to adapt the Jesse Q. Sutanto novel Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers. Mindy Kaling’s production company will pair up with Oprah’s Harpo Films to develop a series for Warner Bros Television. This news comes on the heels of the announcement that Netflix is developing her bestselling Dial A for Aunties, as well. Sutanto has been busy, to say the least, and will be releasing three books in 2023 including a YA novel, an adult thriller and a children’s book.
The Warlock Effect Optioned
Sherlock, producer Hartswood Films obtained the rights to The Warlock Effect by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman. Seven other production companies were in competition for the story that explores the life of a magician who escaped the tyranny of Germany as a boy in this espionage thriller set during the Cold War.
Bridgerton Fans Get Ready
Fans of this Netflix hit will get a double dose of Bridgerton in this summer. The Queen Charlotte season will premiere on May 4, but before audiences even get the chance to binge the show, they can also pick up the Queen Charlotte novel penned by Julia Quinn and executive producer/TV legend Shonda Rhimes.
MAXing Out On Fantasy Hits
With the announcement that HBO Max will soon become Max came the news of a couple major shows that the service will be launching. The streaming service will be taking perhaps the two biggest book-to-screen fantasy series out there and expanding the universe. Fans can expect a Harry Potter live-action TV series and another prequel to Game of Thrones.
Olivia Wilde Adapting Jennifer Egan
Olivia Wilde along with A24 will be adapting Jennifer Egan’s novels A Visit From the Goon Squad and the sequel The Candy House. Goon Squad is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel that orbits around Bennie Salazar, a record company executive, and his assistant through a series of interconnected stories.
