Our May Guest Editor has quickly become a favorite in the romance genre and with her love for reading and great stories, it’s no wonder she writes such fantastic and sexy books. Find out what Helen Hoang reads and pick up some of the titles she says are her favorite books of all time.
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Slave to Sensation is a fantastic paranormal romance, and the beginning of one of my favorite series, the Psy-Changeling series. I’m in love with Nalini’s phenomenal world building, and her Psy characters speak to me like few others have ever done.
The Duke and I by Julia Quinn
I just adored The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. Simon, the duke, has a stutter, and he works hard to overcome it. I absolutely fell in love with him, perhaps because I identified so strongly with his struggle. I’ve read this book several times and the rest of the Bridgerton books as well. They’re all wonderful.
Caged in Winter by Brighton Walsh
Caged in Winter is a fantastic contemporary romance by my extremely talented mentor, Brighton Walsh. I read this book right before she helped me revise the manuscript that later became known as The Kiss Quotient. I remember reading Caged in Winter and thinking I had so much to learn but also feeling inspired to write characters with depth and complexity like she’d done. I’m so lucky I got to work with Brighton.
What Helen’s reading next:
Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune by Roselle Lim
I’m really looking forward to seeing the release of Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune by Roselle Lim. I was lucky enough to read an early version, and I’m hoping readers love it as much as I do. It is such a light, warm-hearted book and the magic is a fun touch. Oh, and the food! It will make your mouth water.
