“Oh, don’t be ridiculous, Andrea. Everyone wants this.” Miranda Priestly couldn’t have said it better—because everyone does want this sequel to the 2006 hit, The Devil Wears Prada.

After nearly twenty years of rewatching the iconic film—almost as many times as John Krasinski—we’re finally getting the fab four back together. Starring Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, with nominees Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci in supporting roles, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the must-see movie this spring. It hits theaters May 1, 2026.

The trailer racked up 222 million views in its first 24 hours, making it the most-viewed 20th Century Studios trailer of all time. It’s safe to say we’re all very excited.

The sequel follows Miranda Priestly (Streep) as she navigates the decline of traditional magazine publishing—and reunites with her former assistant Emily (Blunt), now a powerful executive who controls the advertising dollars she desperately needs. Andy Sachs (Hathaway) returns to Runway to help it evolve in the digital age. Nigel (Tucci) is still Miranda’s right-hand man—gird your loins!

While the original film was based on The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger, the sequel doesn’t appear to draw much from her 2013 follow-up, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns. This time around, the story looks to be entirely its own.

Before the sequel was even in development, Emily Blunt joked about where her character might be now:

“I just hope she’s eating a nice French dip sandwich somewhere and she’s just happy,” Emily told E! News. “Not a cube of cheese. I hope she’s sort of transitioned into a proper sandwich at this point.”

Whether Emily has evolved or not, we can’t wait to see her face off against Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, who attended Milan Fashion Week together with The Devil Wears Prada 2 on their minds.

“I was struck by how not only beautiful and young—everyone seems young to me—but alarmingly thin the models were,” said Streep. “I thought that all had been addressed years ago. Annie clocked it too, and she made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal! She’s a stand-up girl.”

That’s an advocacy move we love to see, especially from such an esteemed cast.

We’re thrilled to see Tracie Thoms return as Andy’s best friend Lily, and Tibor Feldman as media executive Irv Ravitz. It’s not just the cast returning—the original creative team is back, too. Wendy Finerman produced both films and brought back the original director, David Frankel, and the original writer, Aline Brosh McKenna.

The supporting cast list is truly stacked for this much-anticipated film. New additions include Kenneth Branagh as Mr. Priestly, plus Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, and Conrad Ricamora.

And yes—there are cameos. Keep an eye out for Sydney Sweeney, Donatella Versace, and Lady Gaga.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 was filmed in New York City with police barriers in place to control the massive crowds of excited fans. You might remember the good-natured memes last summer when Anne Hathaway took a tumble during filming—fans have a lot of goodwill for these actors coming back together. Anne took the whole thing in stride:

“I was aware that I was falling, I was aware that I was being photographed, and I was also aware that, like, so many people on the crew, their hearts had just jumped up into their throat, so I needed to get up quickly to make sure they knew I was okay.”

The buzz around filming has already revealed some stunning wardrobe moments, both elevated and playful. The costuming promises high fashion, with multiple luxury brands competing to be featured. Anne hopes that people will dress up to attend the film—but your trusty cerulean sweater works too.

Get your tickets for the hottest movie this spring—and don’t forget to wear those groundbreaking florals.

While you’re planning your theater look, it’s the perfect time to revisit the stories that started it all.
