When her school bus driver had to remind Shavantay Minnis every morning to put her books away and head to class, she knew there had to be a world that would allow her to read whenever and wherever she liked. That is why she decided to pursue her graduate studies in English Literature focusing on Writing and Rhetoric at Arizona State University.
Hailing from the east coast, Shavantay comes to SparkPoint Studio as a publishing intern. She discovered her passion for publishing as a Communications and Marketing Coordinator for Florida Atlantic University, a Publicity Assistant for TransMedia Group, and a Food and Travel Blog Writer for Hedonist Shedonist – an industry that took her to different venues and gave her the traveling connoisseur bug. She also has interned as an editorial assistant for the Boca Raton Observer, where she first learned the value and reward of collaborating with authors and editors alike.
An aspiring author herself, when she is not working on her own stories, Shavantay works as a tutor helping high school students, undergraduates, and senior adults strengthen their writing and reading skills. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, taste-testing a variety of vegan restaurants, and finding new books to borrow from her friends.
Shavantay is thrilled to join the SparkPoint Studio team, where she hopes to continue growing her passions for writing, reading, and encouraging others to fall in love with the literary world.
