Carley Fortune has swept us away to beautiful destinations and given us can’t-miss romantic connections with her unforgettable characters. And we weren’t the only ones to notice. Hollywood has excitedly snatched up these stories for their time to shine on screen and we cannot wait. If, like us, you are anxiously anticipating these adaptations, we’re sharing all the news we have on these beloved books.

Every Summer After

First up is Carly’s debut, Every Summer After. Ordered for an 8-episode series by Prime Video in 2024, we are going to see the story come to life June 10, 2026. Retitled, Every Year After, the show stars Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett as Percy and Sam. Amy B. Harris is serving as showrunner with Carley Fortune having joined the team of executive producers.

Though a trailer has not been released, eager fans can follow Fortune’s Instagram for some sneak peaks as well as the official Every Year After page for updates.

Meet Me at the Lake

In 2023, the news around Fortune’s adaptations hit an all-time high as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Productions announced that they would be taking on the film project for Meet Me at the Lake, via Netflix.

There isn’t a director or a cast attached to the project yet, but fans are waiting on bated breath for the next morsel of news.

This Summer Will Be Different

This Summer Will Be Different

Fear not though, Netflix & chillers… Meet Me at the Lake isn’t the only adaptation headed to the streaming giant. This Summer Will Be Different is actually a number of steps closer to production.

In 2026, we got news that the third novel would get the 10-episode TV treatment. Producer Sphere Media is attached with creator/showrunner duo Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart on board. The show will in-fact be shot in Toronto and on Prince Edward Island (praise hands), so we will get to soak up the gorgeous setting Fortune delivered in the books.

In a 2024 interview with She Reads, Fortune shared why she set this novel on PEI:

I traveled to PEI for the first time with my best friend, Meredith, when I was in my early twenties. I was a fan of Anne of Green Gables, so I had a romantic idea of the island, and it more than lived up to my expectations. Meredith and I drove all over the island, ate exclusively seafood, and attended the national oyster shucking championship. The trip really stuck with me, and I’ve always wanted to set a book on the island. I returned there twice more while I was researching, and each time I visited, I fell a little more in love with it. I’ve never met nicer people, had more delicious food, or walked along such beautiful beaches.

We will all eagerly await more news around casting and release dates and, of course, share them with you as they come in.

One Golden Summer

One Golden Summer

Though there isn’t an adaptation or option announcement for this book yet, we are holding out hope! Since One Golden Summer is in the same world of characters as Every Summer After, its ability to make it on screen could be entirely tied to the success of Every Year After. So it is our duty as book lovers to show up for this show so we can get Charlie’s story too.

Our Perfect Storm

Our Perfect Storm

With her latest novel hitting shelves this month, we have not yet gotten any adaptation news, but often with an author whose novels are as desired by Hollywood as Carley’s, that announcement can tend to be just around the corner. And the best way we—as readers—can facilitate that happening is by buying the book and blasting it to the top of bestsellers lists.

In this brand new friends-to-lovers story, Frankie and George grew up together. When Frankie is left by her fiancé, she takes what would have been her honeymoon trip with George instead. Their suitcases, however, are not the only baggages they bring with to Tofino. Secrets, old feelings and unresolved wounds also climb aboard.
