What is Practical Magic 2 About?
The film is set twenty-five years after the first one and continues to follow the Owens family. This time, they face a crisis surrounding their family history and the origins of their magic. After her boyfriend is in a horrible accident, Sally’s daughter, Kylie, begins to uncover dark secrets and develops her own dark abilities in an attempt to save him. This causes the entire family to try and fight to break the curse that has haunted their family for centuries. All of the Owens women must travel from Massachusetts to the U.K. to face their magic source and save the next generation.

How Closely Does the Adaptation Follow the Book?
In July 2024, producer Denise Di Novi told Entertainment Weekly that the film would be based upon the Alice Hoffman books and that Practical Magic 2 will follow the fourth and final book in the series, The Book of Magic published in 2021. From what we can tell, the trailer follows the same plot points as the book, but we won’t know about the smaller details until the movie is released. The trailer shows the same spooky sisterhood full of love and teasing from the first film and the book series so we’re confident that the film will do Alice Hoffman’s work justice.
