The official trailer for The Perfect Find, Netflix’s new movie adaptation of the novel by Tia Williams – features Gabrielle Union as Jenna, a woman who falls in love with her boss’s son, played by Keith Powers. The film also stars Aisha Hinds, DB Woodside, Janet Hubert, Alani “La La” Anthony, and Gina Torres. Directed by Numa Perrier, the movie follows Jenna’s fashion career comeback and her dilemma of pursuing a secret romance with a younger colleague. The movie is set to premier on June 23, 2023.

Megan Abbott’s Novel Beware the Woman Coming to the Big-Screen

Megan took to Twitter on May 19th to tell the world her novel Beware the Woman was being made into a movie: “BEWARE THE WOMAN, soon to be a major motion picture…. (I always wanted to say that!) I’m so excited about this.” She goes on to tell her fans,  “Plus: when (& only when) the WGA strike ends and we get our fair contract, I’ll be writing the script.” Let’s hope she gets that fair contract, cause we can’t wait for this one!

Mad Men star Christina Hendricks will lead the upcoming psychological thriller Reckoner, based on a short story by Rachel Ingalls. The film, produced by XYZ Films and Two & Two Pictures, will mark the directorial debut of screenwriter Nissar Modi (Z for Zachariah) and will be presented to buyers at the Cannes Film Market under XYZ’s New Visions label, specializing in genre films by emerging talents.

Marianne Elliott Directing The Salt Path Film

Raynor Winn’s bestselling memoir The Salt Path will be made into a film starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. Marianne Elliott will make her screen-directing debut after winning the Tony Award and the Olivier Award as a theater artist. The memoir is about a couple who embark on a yearlong journey after losing their home and discovering the husband’s terminal diagnosis.

Elmore Leonard’s Crime Novel Mr. Paradise Being Adapted

Thora Birch, known for her acting roles, is set to make her feature directorial debut with an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s crime novel, “Mr. Paradise” from 2004. The project is being put together by producer Gary Michael Walters, former CEO of Bold and known for films like “The Guilty” and “Oslo,” under his new banner Walters Media Group, with the collaboration taking shape at the Cannes Film Festival.
