Naomi Alderman’s New York Times bestselling novel The Power is hitting the streaming screen this month. The recent trailer for Amazon’s adaptation of this powerhouse feminist sci-fi story is a long-awaited glimpse for fans. For those who love The Handmaid’s Tale, The Power is a female-forward story that speculates about what the world would look like if women suddenly possessed all the physical strength and superiority. Margaret Atwood herself described the novel as “Electrifying! Shocking! Will knock your socks off! Then you’ll think twice, about everything.” It was also one of President’s Obama’s top picks of 2017.

A star-studded cast and a highly acclaimed showrunner bring a lot of promise to this electric adaptation. Familiar faces like Toni Collette and John Leguizamo lead the cast, but fans of Ted Lasso will also be excited to see Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya) play the part of the Nigerian journalist. Raelle Tucker, who is best known for True Blood and Jessica Jones brings her hard-hitting showrunner style to this exciting new series. On March 31st, the first three episodes will debut, with a new episode dropping every Friday until the finale.
