New York Times bestselling author and BookTok sensation Rebecca Yarros finally revealed the Onyx Storm cover in an exclusive interview with the Today Show. Onyx Storm is the third installment in The Empyrean series and is set to hit shelves on January 21, 2025.

This release is a little over a year following Iron Flame, which came out November of 2023. Yarros states that she is thrilled for readers to get back into the world of Basgiath and continue with Violet and Xaden’s story. Emily Henry Taking the Helm Adapting Her New Bestseller Funny Story
Bestselling author Emily Henry will be adapting her own new novel Funny Story into a feature film from Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company. Emily Henry will be writing the script and joining the production team of her latest rom-com novel.
Funny Story was released in April 2024, and follows Daphne as her life takes a turn when her fiancé Peter realizes that he is in love with his childhood friend Petra, leaving Daphne alone in Waning Bay, Michigan. She becomes roommates with Petra’s ex, Miles, and while they initially avoid each other, they eventually form a friendship and plan to post misleading photos of their adventures together. Daphne swears she won’t fall for him, but can she really make that promise?

Netflix Adapting Happy Place by Emily Henry
Fans of Emily Henry got a double dose of good news because another Emily Henry novel is coming to life on the small screen. Netflix is set to adapt Emily Henry’s novel Happy Place as a series, with Jennifer Lopez’s production company Nuyorican. This series development is in the early production stage, with more information about casting and directing coming soon.
Happy Place centers around Harriet and Wyn who broke up five months ago but haven’t told their friends, leading them to pretend they’re still together during their annual getaway at a Maine cottage. Despite their unresolved feelings, they lie to maintain the facade for the last week they’ll all share at the beloved cottage, which is up for sale.

The Bright Sword is Adaptation by Lionsgate TV
The Bright Sword is an Arthurian Tale by Lev Grossman that was recently picked up by Lionsgate TV and 3 Arts for a television series adaptation. This deal was just made and there has been no additional information about casting and directing as of now.
The novel, The Bright Sword, follows a young knight named Collum who arrives at Camelot too late, finding the king dead and only a few oddball knights of the Round Table remaining. Together with Merlin’s former apprentice Nimue, they must journey through a fractured Britain filled with returning fairies, monsters, and rival factions, reclaim Excalibur, and restore Camelot.

UCP to Adapt All The Colors of the Dark Into a Series
Chris Whitaker has just announced that UCP is going to adapt All The Colors of the Dark as a series. This adaptation will be done by Jenna Bush Hager’s Thousand Voices and Sue Naegle’s and Ali Krug’s Dinner Party Productions, alongside UCP. All The Colors of the Dark takes place in 1975 America, amidst the end of the Vietnam War and Muhammad Ali’s fights, where girls are vanishing in Monta Clare, Missouri. Patch, a local boy, becomes an unexpected hero by rescuing a wealthy family’s daughter, but this act brings both triumph and heartbreak as painful truths begin to be revealed and relationships are tested.

My Oxford Year Adaptation Gains Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest
The romance novel, My Oxford Year’s, adaptation under the same name by Netflix has picked up Sofia Carson (from Purple Hearts) and Corey Mylchreest (from Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) as lead actors. Though it has not been officially announced who these two are playing, it is widely assumed that Carson will be playing Ella Durran and Mylchreest will be playing Jamie Davenport.
My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan follows Ella who is fulfilling her lifelong dream at Oxford through a Rhodes Scholarship but finds her plans disrupted by a local named Jamie. Their casual relationship evolves unexpectedly when she discovers his life-altering secret, forcing her to choose between her political and educational ambitions or staying with him during a challenging time.
