About Courtnie Deckwa
Courtnie Deckwa is a senior at Central Washington University where she studies Professional and Creative Writing. She has done freelance writing for her local birth center, where she wrote birth stories and managed social media content. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in publishing where she can do what she loves: help share powerful stories.
She lives on Whidbey Island where she grew up riding horses on her family’s farm. As a young child, her grandmother passed a lifelong love of reading to her that started with Dr. Suess and quickly evolved to Pony Pals and Harry Potter. These days, she reads whatever she can get her hands on.
In her spare time, she is snuggling up with her family (who she has managed to turn into readers), hiking the PNW, or spending time at local bookstores, hoarding books for her personal home library. She loves practicing yoga, poetry, and prose, but most of all she loves collecting books and getting lost in them.
