Story of My Life kicks off a brand-new series for you—what can readers expect from this world and its characters?
I love this book and this world so much! As always, readers can expect a cast of quirky characters, found family, hilarious banter, and a new fictional town to want to move to! Also there’s a lot of animals in this one.

If you had to describe this book in three words, what would they be?
Happy. Hopeful. Raccoon… Wait. I can do better. Bald Eagle Incident? Hang on. One last try. Funny. Steamy. Triumphant.
Readers love a good book boyfriend—tell us about our leading man! What makes him irresistible?
Campbell Bishop is a grumpy contractor hell-bent on getting his family and their business back on track after a tragedy. He doesn’t have time for a trouble-making romance novelist who seems to think he’s the perfect inspiration to break through her writer’s block. But while Cam is grouchy on the outside, he always tries to do the right thing, which is how he ends up renovating our heroine’s house and helping her with her “research.” WINK!
Your books always have a fantastic mix of steamy romance and deep emotional moments. What’s one theme in this book that might surprise readers?
Thank you! There’s a lot of rediscovering who you are after a derailing event. The characters get to take a look at themselves in a new light cast by new circumstances and decide what they really want in their new reality. It brought up a lot of feels for me.
If you could have dinner with three of your characters (from any book), who would they be and why?
Frankie from The Worst Best Man, Jane from The Price of Scandal, and Fitz from the Blue Moon series. I think we could get into a lot of trouble together and then Aiden from TWBM could bail us out and Derek from TPOS could handle the public relations crises!

What’s the most memorable piece of fan feedback you’ve received?
I keep a Happy folder on my computer of reader communications that really touched me. Some of the more memorable ones are readers naming their babies after my characters and book-themed tattoos. And sometimes it’s just about making connections. I had a recent note from a reader who had been suffering from insomnia for years. There’s a Good News section in my weekly newsletter and one of the articles I shared was about a device that helped treat insomnia. This reader took a chance on it and said it changed her life! You just never know when you’re going to be a messenger with right the message at the right time.
Your books are often described as “unputdownable.” What’s the last book you couldn’t put down?
What a lovely compliment! The last book I couldn’t put down was All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker.
If a reader is new to your books, which one (besides Story of My Life) would you recommend they start with?
Oh gosh! It depends on what they need. Want a hilarious Pride & Prejudice escape with a tropical destination? The Worst Best Man. In the mood for all of the feels and a hero who will do anything to fix what’s broken? By a Thread. Need a cozy town that welcomes everyone and excels at gossiping, matchmaking, and breeding chaos? The Blue Moon series.
If you could co-write a romance with any author, past or present, who would it be?
Even on my best hypothetical day I can’t imagine a co-writing experience that wouldn’t end horribly thanks to my obsessive control freak tendencies when it comes to story. I would however love to write a fairy tale and have a fantasy genius like Sarah J. Maas or Rebecca Yarros hold my hand during the process.
Talk to us about the adaptation of Things We Never Got Over. Where is it at in the production process and what is your role?
TWNGO is at that part in the production process where I’m not allowed to talk about anything, which is a very new experience for me! I can say I’m excited and that I’ve requested an embarrassing background walk-on role where I fall in some water or eat an alarming number of tacos.
