The film has generated significant buzz, especially with the addition of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao director, and an impressive cast including Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, and Joe Alwyn. Zhao is co-writing the screenplay with Farrell which will explore the imagined life of Agnes (Anne Hathaway) and William Shakespeare after the loss of their son, Hamnet, the tragedy that inspired Shakespeare’s legendary play, Hamlet.
