Elle Fanning, playing Margo, and Michelle Pfeiffer, playing Shayanne (Margo’s mother), are both executive producers of this fun and exciting world.

Fanning has described the project to ELLE as a heartfelt family drama with a “very specific and fun world,” which made the role especially exciting to play.

Another fun and exciting fact for this show, is that Michelle Pfeiffer’s husband, David E. Kelly, is the show runner, and expressed that agreeing to this show is the second best “yes” that she ever gave him.

Don’t worry, die-hard fans, the show stays remarkably faithful to the book. Instead of rewriting the story, the adaptation mostly expands on what’s already there, especially when it comes to Shayanne and her complicated role as Margo’s mother. By giving that relationship more screen time, the series leans further into the messy, emotional family dynamics that shape Margo’s choices.
