We loved Nicole Kidman as Celeste Wright in HBO’s adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies. As huge fans of both Nicole and Liane’s work, we started wondering what other books Nicole Kidman reads.

Like other celebrities before her, Nicole Kidman is moving behind the camera with her production company, Blossom Films. She Reads loves the stories she’s grabbing the rights to and we can’t wait to see how these play out on the big screen.

A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight

In addition to being a Book of the Month selection and a Publishers Weekly summer reads pick, Nicole Kidman grabbed the film rights to bestselling author Kimberly McCreight’s newest thriller A Good Marriage.

Prosecutor Lizzie Kitsakis is avoiding the cracks in her own marriage and working late when she receives a call from an inmate who happens to be a long ago friend. His wife has just been found dead in their brownstone, and he’s the primary suspect. The woman’s brutal murder reveals the compromises both couples have made, and the secrets kept, just to stay together.

Pretty Things by Janelle Brown

Nicole Kidman is set to star in and produce the series adaptation of Janelle Brown’s Pretty Things. The thriller dives into the story of two women – one a grifter, one a wealthy influencer – as they become engaged in a mesmerizing game of deceit and destruction in Lake Tahoe.

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

A Big Little Lies reunion of sorts, Nicole Kidman’s adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers has been picked up by Hulu. In the story, nine people (perfect strangers!) gather at a remote health resort to address a range of personal issues. As they begin to explore their own reasons for being there and what has brought their fellow guests together, they’ll discover just how challenging the next ten days will be.

Nicole Kidman is set to star in the adaptation alongside Melissa McCarthy who is also a co-producer. Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelly will co-write and co-showrun the project, so viewers can expect much of the same magic that made Big Little Lies the hit it was.
