For fans of the ’80s slasher films, I Think We’re Alone Now is the perfect paranormal pick. In this May 2027 release, a young woman is searching for her sister’s killer while growing closer with a guy plotting to sacrifice and kill six souls. What could go wrong as the two spend the summer together?

I Think We’re Alone Now by Tylor Paige

Though it’s a hot ’80s summer and Dean Danforth wants to worry about on sexs, drugs, and rock and roll, he must focus on sacrificing six souls to his father. As the youngest of Satan’s six sons, he must complete this before his twenty-fourth birthday or spend hell in eternity.  After her sister was murdered five years ago and the crime never solved, Mona Sandoval is spending her summer working to save the money she needs to continue on her search for answers. Then Mona and Dean spend a night together, her first night back, with no strings and no thought of seeing each other again. Then she sees him at her father’s resort when she walks in for orientation. Their summer will now be spent side by side as Mona searches for her sister’s killer and Dean searches for the perfect victim. As they grow close, their secrets become more dangerous and nothing can be more dangerous than the blood that Dean owes his father.

Tell us about I Think We’re Alone Now. What inspired this story?

I Think We’re Alone Now is a slasher horror romance inspired by the classic 80s films, Dirty Dancing and Evil Dead. In my book, we blend both ideas, romance and horror, to tell a fun story that will hopefully satiate readers who want to experience some nostalgia, but also need the modern day level of spice in their romances.

This story is set in the 80s. What sort of nostalgia should readers be excited about?

I think the best thing about this period of time is the lack of internet. We’re not so focused on the screen, but instead living more in the moment. I think the aesthetic as a whole will be really fun for readers as well. The music, the fashion. Men with long hair and tiny shorts? Count me in.

What excited you about telling the story of one of Satan’s sons?

The opportunity to add as many Satanic jokes as possible in 100k plus words.

Our FMC is trying to solve the mystery of her sister’s murder. What do you love about the sisterly bond that made this rich territory to explore?

Mona and Blanca had a very close relationship. Sure, one would steal the other’s clothes or threaten to tell their parents the other snuck out last Friday night, but at the core of their relationship they had plans to build a future together far, far away. Losing someone like that so suddenly is a tragedy. For Mona, it drove her to pursue the life Blanca wanted for them. When we meet her in 1988, she’s not looking for justice, like Evie in my previous novel, Good For Her. She just wants to put Blanca to rest and finally say goodbye. Which is exactly what her sister would want.

What dynamics between Dean and Mona are you excited for readers to dive into?

There is a slight class difference between the two, which I kind of like. She is the ‘rich’ one, not him. But also, she’s a budding writer and he’s a published one, so whenever they talk about the craft, I really enjoyed. In an odd way, that was where the most chemistry in the book comes out, not the spicy scenes.

After watching Heathers and listening to My Chemical Romance one too many times in her teens, Chicana author, Tylor Paige, was drawn to the darkness where the villains were still villains, but deserved love stories too. Shifting her focus to Horror Romance, Tylor writes snarky, psycho vampires, troubled but beautiful Goblin Kings, and slashers so sexy you’ll be begging your partner to buy a mask. When she’s not writing about women railing the villains, she enjoys watching horror films, sewing, comic books, and performing with her local community theatre.
